Why is Schibsted account being separated into two accounts?
Schibsted has become two companies, Schibsted Media and Schibsted Marketplaces, to better focus on their core businesses. Schibsted account used to be the shared login solution for all Schibsted services, but as a consequence of the company separation, the account also separates into two.
This means that after the separation, there will be one account (called Schibsted account) to log into media services like VG and Aftenposten, and another account, called account for Schibsted Marketplaces, to log in to marketplaces services like FINN and Morgenlevering.
Depending on which services you had connected to your existing Schibsted account, you will end up with either one or two different accounts after the account separation.
What does separating Schibsted account mean for me?
What used to be the shared login solution is now separated into two login solutions that work the same way, but for two different kinds of services: media services or marketplaces services.
For people that had both media and marketplaces services connected to their account, will have two accounts going forward: One to log into the media services like VG and Aftenposten, and another to log into marketplaces services like FINN and Morgenlevering.
If you only had marketplaces services or only media services connected to your Schibsted account, nothing changes. You can keep logging in from any of your services and most things will work like you’re used to.
What is different?
The new account for marketplaces services will have a new URL (web address), so if you're using a password manager, the manager won't recognise the URL and you’ll have to update the details in your password manager.
Your account information stays the same
All your saved information and saved favorites will still be visible in your account(s) as usual.
If you had both media and marketplaces services connected to your account, the relevant information is saved in the correct account, for example payment information for subscriptions will only be visible in the Schibsted account for media services. If you have two accounts after the account separation, remember to make your updates in both accounts.
How is my privacy affected by the account separation?
Previously, you could make privacy choices for all Schibsted services at once. Now, as Schibsted account separates into two, the privacy tools accessible through your account only apply to either of the new companies, media or marketplaces.
How does this affect me?
If you had only media services, for example VG and Aftenposten (see complete list), or only marketplaces services, for example FINN and Morgenlevering (see complete list) connected to your original Schibsted account, nothing changes for you.
If you had both kinds of services conneceted to your account, you'll have two accounts after the separation and you need to make your privacy choices for each account separately.
You'll be taken to the correct version of your account when logging in via a service. The privacy choices you make will apply to the services you can see in your account overview.
Why am I being asked to set a new password when logging into FINN or other marketplaces services?
As Schibsted account separates into two accounts, people that had both media and marketplaces services connected to their accounts will have two accounts going forward. Using the same password multiple places is a security risk online and we encourage you to change the password for the new account for Schibsted Marketplaces.
How do I update my password for my new account for Schibsted Marketplaces?
For your new account for Schibsted Marketplaces, you can follow the prompt that you see when you log in to one of the marketplaces services. When you're asked to change your password, follow the steps and you're good to go.
Password manager
If you're using a password manager for logging in to your account, make sure you connect the password manager to your new account for Schibsted Marketplaces.
Will my subscriptions or purchases be affected?
Your subscriptions and purchases will continue as normal on your current account. Contact customer support at your Schibsted Media service if you need help with your subscription.
